These are the Kirsten pipes that started it all. In all the years I have been doing this, I have had only a handful of these pipes pass through my hands. So in my estimation these pipes were only manufactured in this form for 3 - 4 months in the very beginning of Kirsten production. These very first pipes that Mr. Kirsten made did not have the "script" for the Kirsten logo on the side of the pipe, kirsten was stamped on the left side in block letters. These Pipes were much thinner and lighter than the future pipes that went into regular production starting in 1936. To my knowledge they were only made in the 3 sizes of small, medium and large. I have never seen an Aristocrat in this type of early pipe. That is not to say Mr. Kirsten did not make it, I have just never physically had one in my hands.
 
Although this pipe in not perfect it is a rare opportunity to own one of the very first Kirstens.
 
This is a Straight 7/16 - inch ID, 3-3/4 inch long shank Kirsten Tobacco pipe. This would be the "M" model (Medium).
 
Left side is stamped in Block Letters KIRSTEN, Bottom is stamped PAT APPL FOR
The aluminum body is not perfect, there is a small split on the top fin and small warp on the bottom one (looks like someone tried to hold it with a plyers at some point). 
The bit is the original Vulcanite, with the ramrod that unscrews, another unique feature only to these first pipes is that the ramrod flairs at the end. 
The bowl is the original restored Kirsten briar bowl with the rounded off bowl screw.
End cap/valve is the original, the knurling is not perfect but nice. 
 
Length: 5-3/8 inches. Bowl height-bottom of bowl to top of bowl: 1-1/8 inches. Bowl width at widest point: 1-1/4 inches. Chamber width: 7/8 - inch. depth: approx. 7/8 - inch.
